Wants
I don't know why, but in the last couple weeks, I've really wanted to try other styles of cloth diapers. Being me, though, I'm hesitant enough to try something new...especially when I have to pay for it! Right now, we've been using prefolds and Thirsties covers. They work great, so why do I feel the desire to try something new? I guess I just want to see what else is out there. I've been watching Zwaggle to see if there are any used cloth diapers out there I can get for only shipping cost. There's a set of pocket diapers out there that would only be about $5 for the pair, but still I hesitate. I guess I just don't like the risk...what if I don't like them? How will I incorporate them into my daily use? Dumb questions, I'm sure, but still they (and my desire to try something new) persist.
Any suggestions?

Rolling, rolling, rolling
Our little munchkin is so strong! Tonight she successfully completed this difficult task three times--all within about 10 minutes!
She's rolled from back to tummy and tummy to back about the same number of times now. From what I've read, babies don't usually roll from their back to their tummy until about six months. Shows what I've known all along...Emily is gifted!

Curtains
Back on this post, I mentioned I had bought fabric for curtains. Well, here are the finished products. They turned out a bit shorter than I had hoped, but I still think they look ok. (Note to self, when washing fabrics before sewing, always use FrayCheck on the edges!)

Homecoming & more
Last Friday was homecoming at Panther Creek. I got my first mum (yes, ever!)!
Emily and I went up for the pep rally. Obviously, she wasn't impressed.

But, she settled down and stayed like this for the rest of the pep rally.
Everyone was all decked out for Homecoming. including this adorable pre-K girl!
I found this picture on my phone from a month ago and just had to share it. Emily's helping Grandpa work!

I just love how Emily is admiring the bib that Aunt Jenni bought her last week!
That's about it for now. This week should be fairly calm since there's no football game, but you never know!

Weekend visit in pictures
This week, my dad had a conference in Dallas. Emily and I went with him and Mom. To keep from having extra cars, they came to Panther Creek Friday night in time for the first home football game. Before the game, Emily had to show off...she can (and loves) to stand!
Emily was so tired Sunday night that she was starting to fall asleep in the Bumbo. It was adorable and gave us lots of laughs! (Yes, we eventually put her down for a nap.)
She's getting so strong now. She can push up for a minute or two now.
Aunt Jenni has this Cookie Monster cookie jar that we had given our grandparents many years ago. One day, maybe Emily will get cookies out of it.
Emily loves Aunt Jenni, really. But, I think sometimes we just catch the "I'm sick of taking pictures" look!
While at Aunt Jenni's house, Emily turned 14 weeks and rolled from her back to her tummy and started giggling. She looks like such a big girl in this picture!
While in Dallas, Mom and I spent two and a half hours at JoAnn picking out fabrics for a new high chair pad and a portable high chair sling (Mom's projects) and kitchen curtains and "curtains" for the sides of the Pack n Play (my projects). We shopped several other places and Emily was so cooperative. I think we bought everything that was on our list! Well, that's about it for the weekend recap. Thanks for reading through the mundane.

Three months
I can't believe it's been three months already!
To celebrate Emily's birthday, the three of us and my parents went to the West Texas Fair & Rodeo. We had lots of fun eating, walking around and seeing the exhibits and entries and going to the Rodeo. Emily even cooperated, though she never slept. Such is life. She has slept well today so I guess she isn't too worn out!
Grandpa trying to feed Emily at the Fair. She never would settle down for him to feed her.

My favorite of the ones that didn't make the cut--just look at those eyes!
This was Emily's mid-morning nap today. How precious!

12 weeks
Yesterday was another Abilene trip. After running errands, my mom and I headed back to her house before Emily needed to eat again. We had Emily on a blanket on the floor and were giving her some tummy time. Emily decided she'd had enough and pushed herself onto her back. Yes, that's right....she rolled onto her back!!! She hasn't done it again since then, but I know it's only a matter of time!

Labor Day weekend
Busy weekend!!
Friday was my Mom's birthday and my parents and sister were coming for the weekend, so Emily helped me make a cake for Pearlie.
Friday night was the first football game. We drove to Blanket, expecting Emily to wake up once we got there. No! This is how she stayed from 5:45 to 10:15 when we got to Cici's in Brownwood after the game.
Then, we got this Emily until we got home.

Saturday afternoon, Jenni helped me put together Emily's crib. We had to wait for the side that had been damaged in the move to get fixed before we could finally put it together. She didn't seem to mind sleeping in the Pack n Play until now. I have to say a big thanks to Cara and her mom for the bedding. It looks great!!! Emily sleeps well in her new bed and looks so small in it!
Finally, Pearlie got some playtime with Emily.
All in all, it was a full, but great weekend with family.

Happy girl!
We've been seeing more and more of these smiles lately. This is the first one I've captured!
We also see a lot of this face...it's her stretching face. What a cutie!
We discovered we have roses growing outside our front door.

Busy, busy, busy
Wednesday night was one of Emily’s biggest accomplishments...she slept through the night!! She’s done it 3 nights in a row now, but I am a realist...I know it could stop at any time!
(Thanks to Teresa Smith for this wonderful picture!)
Today was a busy day! Phillip and I decided to have a back to school dinner for all the teachers so we could meet them all and to start off the year on a good note. (Yes, he’s met them all this week, but I haven’t met them all yet.) So, he had to go up to school to meet Big O from Big O’s Restaurant (in Valera) to get the food. When he got back, he trimmed the ivy and morning glories that had taken over our sidewalk (wish I'd taken a before and after picture!) and I planted the calla lilies that Cara brought me when Emily was born and some cosmos seeds that a student had given Phillip at some point. Hopefully, they will grow!
(Thanks to Teresa Smith for this wonderful picture!)Friday night was the first home scrimmage against Rising Star. I’d never been to a scrimmage (much less one for 6-man football!) so I didn’t quite know what to expect. The first string offense for Rising Star went out first and they played 20 or so plays. If they scored, great. If not, no big deal...there’s no score kept at these scrimmages. Then, Panther Creek’s first string offense went out and did the same thing. Then, the Rising Star second string. Then the Panther Creek second string. Then the first strings went out again. Emily and I left after about two hours when the PC second string was still out.

We put up a new light fixture out front and plan to put up one in the back too, but were too hot after the first one. We'll have to do that another day.
As we were doing that, Emily was busy too...she started sucking her thumb on her own! I’m so proud of her!
We also replaced the thermostat with an electronic one so we could set programs on it. That went surprisingly well, considering our last attempt at replacing a thermostat.
In order to do all that, we had to turn off the electricity. Since our breaker box had not been properly labeled, we just turned off all the electricity until after the thermostat. Then, we tested and labeled each breaker. Now, if only we could get the electricity in the carport and storage room to work–they weren’t on any breaker!
Pretty boring post, but it's also been awhile since I wrote and I know everyone just wants to know what's going on (and see pictures of Emily!). Also...a shout out to Granddaddy...it's his 96th birthday today!

Look what I can do!
Emily is so strong now!! We went to the doctor yesterday and she is now 11 pounds, 4 ounces and 23 inches long. She got her three shots and did great...cried for a little bit, but was sleepy anyway so she slept most of the rest of the day.
Not much else is going on down here. Phillip is gearing up for school to start on Monday and I'm just trying to get back in the swing of things after being in Abilene for the weekend.

Two months and more
These videos were taken about a month ago, but I just found them. Enjoy! Oso certainly entertained us on our Fourth of July get-together!
I mentioned a couple weeks ago that we had pictures taken. Well, now they're up on a website. If you'd like to see them, leave me a comment with your email address and I'll send you the web address. The web site will expire on 8/21/08.
