(Don't forget about the Great MOMS Walk. More details here. Deadline for donations is Sunday, May 3.)
Emily loves to play in our closet. She especially likes Phillip's belts!

Believe it or not, I didn't pose Emily this way! Go Mavs!

Wedding weekend

This weekend we went to Dallas so Emily could go to her first wedding. Actually, we wanted to go anyway, but it was Emily's first wedding. Our good friend, Kristen married Brent. They both have such interesting jobs. They live in DC and she works for a national non-profit as PR director (I think) and he works for the State Department. It was great to see Kristen again and to get to know Brent a little.
Brent, Emily & Kristen

We also had some time to hang out with our friends from Dallas. We watched the recorded Mavs game, even though 5 out of 7 of us knew the outcome before the game ended. It was lots of fun. We really miss you guys! (Sorry, Summer, I didn't get any pictures of you!)
Phillip, Josue, Debbie, Emily, Heather & Adam
Sunday, we went to lunch with Brent & Kristen and all our friends. Emily got to meet Wesley again. They've both grown a bit since the first time they met.

Not a bad picture for someone who threw up a few times last night. (She's better now, but last night was a little rough.)

Yesterday, I was at the computer and turned around to find this. Such a little explorer!

Weekend recap

(Don't forget about the Great MOMS Walk. More details here. Deadline for donations is May 3.)

It was a fun weekend. Saturday was the Great MOMS Walk. Short walk, but lots of fun at the end, especially for older kids. Emily really enjoyed the swings!

She had fun with her first balloon, too!

We ate our lunch in the park and made it a true picnic. Sandwiches, chips, fruit...what more could you ask for? I mentioned to my sister we'd had a picnic for lunch and that we were having cheeseburgers for dinner. She said it's just a picnic day. So, we had a floor picnic for dinner! What fun!!

On another note, what do you get a one-year-old for her birthday? I mean, it's not like she NEEDS anything!

Photo Contest

Ok, so I finally gave in and entered Emily in a photo contest. It's one where people vote for the winner and I used this picture.

So, go vote! Click here to vote for Emily. (Yes, you'll have to sign up, but you can skip all the offers to vote.)

Nothing too exciting going on this week. Just hanging out at home. I do want to thank Kevin, Sara & Jenna for this wonderful shirt. It looks great on Emily!

Easter

(Don't forget about the Great MOMS Walk. More details here. Deadline for donations is May 3.)

Emily's first Easter was lots of fun! We actually started a week early by going to an Easter Egg Hunt with my parents' Sunday School class. Emily had lots of fun and enjoyed "finding" her three eggs!

Ready for the hunt!

"What is this stuff I'm sitting on?"
(first time in the grass!)

We spent most of Friday with Phillip's family, eating and hanging out and playing with Emily, of course!.

Emily got to try out the chair sling my mom made for her.
She really enjoyed it!

The whole family (minus Phillip's sister and her family)

Grandpa and his girls

Saturday & Sunday we were in Abilene again and spent time with my family.

Emily enjoyed her Easter basket and card.
She got some Little People from the Easter Bunny!

10 months

(Don't forget about the Great MOMS Walk. More details here. Deadline for donations is May 3.)

Blogging on the road today. Yesterday, we visited Phillip's family for dinner and enjoyed that time. Today, we're in Abilene for the weekend. Emily got to show off her new trick to everyone yesterday and today. It's so exciting!
We're starting to plan THE birthday party. What did you do for your kids' first birthdays? What do you wish you'd done differently (or what did you do that you really liked)?

Just wanted to show off my new trick for everyone!

Sorry the post is so late today (some of you didn't even notice, but I know there are some who have been waiting with bated breath!), but life happened. Nothing extraordinary, but just things that needed to be done. Like, making dinner, doing laundry, etc. The normal day-to-day events. Oh, that, and watching Emily walk across the room with her hippo walker! :-) She's been doing it since yesterday and acts like a pro already!

MOPS

(Don't forget about the Great MOMS Walk. More details here. Deadline for donations is May 3.)

Monday was the annual Tea & Testimony meeting at MOPS. It was a tea party and three moms shared their stories. I was really moved by one woman who told how she joined MOPS. She was literally at her wits' end, dealing with a toddler and a five-month-old who had been colicky since two weeks old. Thankfully, her mother (I think) suggested she look into a group called MOPS that she'd heard about on the radio. Five years later, she's been a table leader for a couple years and on the steering committee for a couple years. I am grateful she found MOPS.

While my story is not as powerful, I did share with my table how much MOPS has affected me this year. Because we live where we do, I have NO connection with anyone during the day (outside of Phillip and Emily). If I didn't have MOPS to look forward to every couple of weeks, I think I would go nuts. There have been a couple of times that I have gone nuts between meetings! Besides, I know it is good for Emily to be with other kids her age and to learn that I will always come back to get her from the "strangers" I leave her with.

So, that's my story. I hope it encourages others to join MOPS, but, if not, I know I've gotten something out of it!

42 weeks

(Don't forget about the Great MOMS Walk. More details here. Deadline for donations is May 3.)

Two pictures this week because they were both precious. I received the basket (and red, crinkly paper) as a prize for winning The Pantry Challenge from back in February. Emily loved the paper!

It's been a whirlwind few days. My dad's uncle died on Saturday and the funeral was yesterday, so Emily & I stayed in Abilene Monday night after MOPS (more about that meeting tomorrow) and went to the funeral. I'm starting to catch up and get everything put away after being gone.
